EXCLUSIVE: Seven Bucks Productions, the production company co-founded by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia and run by Hiram Garcia, has come on board to co-produce with Nacelle the upcoming RoboForce animated series, inspired by the action figures.
The series, announced in January, will be executive produced by Brian Volk-Weiss, who also is directing, alongside Cisco Henson, Matt Kravitsky, Michael Goodman, Tom Stern and Gavin Hignight for Nacelle. Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Brian Gewirtz will serve as executive producers on behalf of Seven Bucks Productions.
This marks a reunion for Nacelle and Seven Bucks Productions who recently partnered on Behind the Attraction, a docuseries about the history and development of attractions throughout Disney’s theme parks for Disney+.
“We’re excited for Seven Bucks and Nacelle to partner together once again, especially to bring the iconic story of RoboForce to life,” Dany Garcia and Dwayne Johnson said. “We love that it’s a story about redemption, second chances, and rising to the challenge as told through the eyes of funny, messed up, renegade robots who finally get their chance to shine. This is a great opportunity for Seven Bucks to build on its animation momentum, and we can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve got in store for them.”
RoboForce: The Animated Series is set in 2089. The latest version of Soraya Aviram’s RoboForce debuted with plans to assist a new intergalactic society on Earth. Unfortunately, the same day as the announcement, Soraya’s rival, Silas Duke, revealed his new Utopia Aegis 101 line of bots, which made RoboForce immediately obsolete. RoboForce split up and was forced into menial jobs for 15 years without hope of ever being heroes… Until mysteriously, a rogue code infected the Utopia Aegis 101’s to turn on humanity, and no one else besides Maxx 89 and the rest of RoboForce has a chance to stop them.
“Working with Brian Volk-Weiss and Nacelle on Behind the Attraction, we appreciate their knack for bringing classic properties to the screen in a way that engages new and old fans alike, as we’ve done with projects like the Jumanji franchise,” Seven Bucks Productions’ President of Production, Hiram Garcia said. “As we expand our animation division, building upon the recent success of DC League Of Super-Pets, we’re confident this excellent creative team and beloved brand will make for a must-watch series, and we can’t wait to bring it to audiences.”
Composer and Musician Matthew Margeson is composing the score for RoboForce: The Animated Series, which is being animated by Cartoon Conrad (Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans Go, Netflix’s Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie).
In 2022, media company Nacelle revealed the first wave of RoboForce action figures, which feature Maxx 89 and Wrecker. Wave two of the RoboForce action figure line is currently in production.
“It’s one thing to dream about taking a toy from the 1980s and bringing it to life in the 21st century, but to do it with The Rock and Dany Garcia, I have to pinch myself to be reminded that it’s not a dream,” said Nacelle Founder and CEO Brian Volk-Weiss. “As Maxx 89 would say, let’s proceed!”
Nacelle recently unveiled a raft of licensing deals with Funko, Oni Press, Bull Airs, and more to produce comics, graphic novels, vinyl collectibles, footwear, and other officially licensed merchandise for the RoboForce brand.
