Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is almost here, so it’s the perfect time to take a look at the careers of the cast before they appeared in the MCU, and what roles and genres they worked in before James Gunn cast them in this trilogy full of great jokes, lots of heart, and incredible soundtracks. Here are some roles you’ve seen the actors in before they became part of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
10 Sean Gun
For many, Sean Gun is Ravager leader Kraglin, body double and mocap actor for Rocket Raccoon, and the brother of director James Gunn. To others, Gunn will always be Stars Hollow resident weirdo Kirk The Gilmore Girls. At its start, Gunn’s career was filled with guest starring roles on comedy series like Andy Richter controls the universeor Go to Californiabut it was as Kirk in this mother-daughter tale that the actor finally found steady employment, as the town-crazy character, always making him useful for whatever last weird scheme and story the unique town had.
9 Maria Bakalova
Maria Bakalovaher career takes off with every new movie she stars in. In this film she will voice Cosmo the dog (as she did in The Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special), and it is one of her biggest roles to date after being discovered by everyone Borat Later Movie Film: Delivery of Miraculous Bribe to US Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (also known as Borate 2).
In the mockumentary, she plays Borat’s daughter, showing that she is just as good at improvising and showing everyone around her their true colors as Sacha Baron Cohen (and that’s no easy feat, since Baron Cohen has done it for decades years does). After her role as Borat’s daughter, she gets more opportunities to showcase her talents in movies like bodies bodies, and the last mention of the Guards trilogy.
8 Will Poulter
Will Poulter is one of the new faces Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as he goes on to play Adam Warlock. Poulter’s career to play an MCU character was like no other as he has had great performances before both in comedy and drama. Most people first met him as the clumsy virgin in We are the Millersbut he’s since had an eclectic career playing intense, despicable villains (Detroit), teenage villains (The maze runner franchise), morally truthful gray characters (The Revenant), and a supporting player in the interactive experiment dark mirror’the last season.
7 Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff‘s Mantis was one of the best things Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with her childlike wonder and great chemistry with the team, especially Drax (Dave Bautista). The actress started her career in France, starring in movies like A pure affair or Nuit Blanche, for her role in Spike Lee’s remake of the Korean masterpiece, old boy, where she played Haeng-bok, villain Adrian’s (Sharlto Copley) bodyguard. After that, her role as Mantis made her known worldwide.
On the difference between working in France and Hollywood movies, Klementieff told Numero Magazine: “The films I worked on in France had such smaller budgets, the crew has fewer people. Every adventure is different and I love every adventure for different reasons. So I’m not going to say one is better than the other.”
6 Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper‘s role in the MCU is voicing the fan-favorite, sarcastic Rocket Raccoon, where he’s had some incredible moments. When he’s not doing that, he’s acting and directing prestigious films that are nominated for Academy Awards. It wasn’t always that easy as Cooper took the time to become an A-lister and appeared in supporting roles in TV series like Aliasor jack and bobby, and being the worst person ever in movies like Wedding Crashers. Everything changed with The hangoverwhere he proved he could be a blockbuster star.
About his period of movies before The hangover, Cooper told GQ: “I did these movies, and I’ve met Sandra Bullock and met these people and worked with them. And I’m sober and I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m actually me. And I don’t have to put this in the take the spotlight to be someone else, and this person still wants to work with me? Oh, what the hell is that about?” I was rediscovering myself in this workplace, and it was great.”
5 Vincent Diesel
Even before you voiced Groot, Vincent Diesel was already known in Hollywood and had its own franchise, with The fast and the furious universe. He’s been an action hero since he started car racing as Dom Toretto, but he’s also played other action roles Riddick And xXx. For the Fast franchise, he was still a supporting character in incredible movies like Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan, Knockaround Guys, and in his first voice acting roleThe iron giant.
4 Karen Gillan
Even for seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, it resembles Karen Gillan‘s Nebula gets one of the biggest and better character arcs in the entire franchise. She started out as a bad guy, and through some bad experiences in the movies, like The Blib, she has become someone with friends, who can be trusted and who knows her worth. Scottish Gillan has made some great films, but where most people first saw her act was as Doctor Who’s companion, Amy Pond, in the famous BBC show Doctor whowhat she performed with House of the Dragon‘s Matt Smith as The Doctor.
3 Dave Bautista
15 years ago, Dave Bautista perhaps more recognized in a WWE ring than a movie set because he was known in that world as Batista, one of the bad guys. He started looking for acting work in 2010, appearing in small roles as a tough enforcer in Chuck (a great comedy about a nerd who goes to work for the CIA because all the agency’s knowledge is in his head), Riddick (along with his Guardians colleague, Vin Diesel), and RZA’s The man with the iron fists. Guardians of the Universe was his big break in Hollywood, where he showed that he could be as funny as he was imposing.
Since the first film, he has been getting better and better acting opportunities, and now he is a lead actor in an M. Night Shyamalan movie (Knock on the hut), and was praised for his performance in Glass onion.
2 Zoe Saldana
Zoe SaldanaGamora is the guardians’ best fighter and has a conflicted relationship with his adopted father, Thanos (Josh Brolin). Before she was the green-skinned warrior, Saldaña had been a ballerina Middle stagea blue-skinned Na’vi fighter, a Star Trek crew member, a pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, nina simone, and an assassin inside Colombian. It seems that when Hollywood is looking for a charismatic, fighting-able and coolest one to do it, Saldaña is always their first call, making all those roles the perfect preparation for her cast as Gamora.
1 Chris Pratt
Chris Pratt‘s role as Star-Lord is what made him (no pun intended) a star, but it wasn’t his first role at all. Before he was the leader of this group of weird characters, he was known as a teen heartthrob in the TV series Everwoodand showed his comedic side The OC Then he disappeared for a while, until he was thrown in Parks and recreation as dork Andy Dwyer.
His physique was the least superhero possible there, but he showed how much he could improve and be funny on a sitcom, qualities that Star-Lord also has. Once he became starring material in the MCU, his career changed and he has since made a number of fun and action movies.
